PRISON VISITS SPONSORED RIDE
That year's charity was for SWANSEA AND DISTRICT FOSTER CARE ASSOCIATION, and to raise funds we planned the PRISON VISITS RIDE. This involved visiting 10 prisons in Wales and the South West Region of England, stopping at each one for a photograph, having a guided tour of HMP Cardiff and a refreshment stop at HMP Leyhill, with a special "Thank You" to the two governors for allowing and arranging these two stops. Thanks to all the other governors for allowing us to ride onto prison property and take a photo.
The 10 prisons visited were :-
HMP's SWANSEA, PARC, CARDIFF, PRESCOED, USK, GLOUCESTER, EASTWOOD PARK, LEYHILL, ASHFIELD and BRISTOL.
We started riding just after 0930hrs for a full day of riding and after stopping at a motorway services on the return journey back to Swansea for a well deserved coffee, we finished the day at 2100hrs; the weather was good, not too cold, dry and cloudy, and a good day was had by all that attended. We covered 257 miles.
