Christmas 2012-2018
.
Every year at Christmas and Easter, we love to remember children in hospital, so we link up with other local bikers and biking groups to make it a real occasion. Everyone makes an agreed, fixed donation, and we use the money to purchase various selections of treats and/or toys to give to children of all ages. Easter this year, Wales 2 Blue Knights and a number of fellow biking enthusiasts all contributed for the children in Morriston Hospital, Swansea.
These events are a superb way for bikers to club together, enjoy a ride-out, perhaps a coffee or lunch, and share a few laughs; but more importantly, to take pleasure in providing a little comfort to local children who are otherwise unable to enjoy a "normal" Christmas or Easter due to illness.
On the run-up to Christmas, IKEA Cardiff contacted us and asked if we would like to be involved in distributing some 300 soft toys to hospitalised and care home children. Naturally we were more than happy to undertake the job, but with so many toys and a wide area to cover, we invited Wales 1 and Wales 3 to assist in their local areas. The result was that the three Welsh Chapters joined forces and distributed toys throughout the entire South, East and West Wales regions. It was a delightful, if sometimes sobering experience to see these kiddies, and we would like to take this opportunity to offer our thanks to IKEA Cardiff, and to our BK comrades in East and West Wales. While you're here, check out the photos on our Toy Run page.
If you would like to join us in either of these annual events, it doesn't matter how big your engine is - 125 or 1125 - you will be made most welcome. Why not contact us now, in time for our next Christmas Charity Run? Just go to our contacts page and fill in the form.
